About SIR FOR PAWS NY 5K RUN/WALK 19
The mission of PAWS NY is to help NYC's most vulnerable residents who are most at risk for losing their pets due to physical and financial obstacles they face, with particular emphasis on low-income seniors and individuals suffering from illness or disability. PAWS NY's programs help keep pets in their homes while protecting and promoting the human-animal bond that is so physically and psychologically valuable to our clients.
For the second year in a row, Sotheby's International Realty (SIR) is sponsoring PAWS NY for the Generosity Series NYC 5K. Our participation in this event would not be possible without their generous support!
The 5K will take place on November 10th, 2019 in Manhattan's Riverside Park. You don't want to miss this amazing event featuring a live DJ, a professional announcer, PAWS NY event gear and an all around amazing time with friends, family, and co-workers, all while helping raise funds to support our mission and help us keep people and pets together.
We can't thank SIR enough for making it possible for PAWS NY to take part in this event which helps raise much needed awareness and funds for people and pets in need.

Our Story
The idea for PAWS NY began in 2008 after our founder, Rachel Herman, noticed a young homeless couple and their dog outside of her local grocery store. As an animal lover, she felt great empathy for this underserved, mixed-species family, and would occasionally donate pet food or change. Eventually, she started to ask herself the questions that would lead to PAWS NY’s founding: “Are there other people in New York City that have pets but struggle to provide adequate care for them? And how can I provide more meaningful assistance?” After some research, she recognized that there was a huge need and no organization in New York City to provide for that need and PAWS NY was born. Thanks to the help of our amazing community of volunteers and partners, we are able to provide assistance to over 250 clients and 450 pets throughout the year.
Funds raised through the PAWS NY 5K will help us to continue providing services and resources to keep pets at home with the people who love them. Every dollar raised makes a huge impact and makes it possible for us to continue growing and carrying out our mission! Thank you for your support!
